Digital Payments and PagoPA Integration
Billing in an Italian pharmacy is complex due to the different VAT rates (4%, 10%, 22%) and the need to integrate with pagoPA, Italy’s electronic payment system for public administration.
The PMS must be able to process payments for "Ticket" fees and clinical services and issue a "Parlante" Receipt (Scontrino Parlante). This special receipt includes the patient’s tax code and is required by the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) for the patient to claim their 19% tax deduction on healthcare expenses.
